Since 2009, when President Barack Obama was elected, U.S. economy has been facing a huge downfall and value of U.S. dollar is constantly decreasing. Unemployment rate is 9% and social security and military needs are not being met. In other words, the progress of American economy has come to a complete halt despite Obama’s efforts to control it.
President Barack Obama passed different bills to give military and non-military aids to Pakistan to promote stability of Pakistan’s economy. Relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan had been favorable but not enough to fight against a common threat- Afghanistan. But after some recent events, these relationships are becoming weaker. It started when Raymond Davis incident occurred and Pakistan did not treat it as U.S. asked.
In May 2011, the U.S. claimed that Osama bin Laden, who was believed to be responsible for 9/11 attacks, was hiding in Pakistan and without Pakistan’s official permission, attacked on Pakistan’s land and killed him. This gave rise to the already present argument between the U.S. and Pakistan.
Then there were attacks on U.S. Embassy and NATO headquarters in Kabul which were claimed to be arranged by Haqqani network that was accused to be operating under Pakistan’s agency, the ISI. Pakistan was always accused by India and the U.S. to be in favor of Al-Qaida which Pakistan had denied repeatedly but this new accusation was the limit. Pakistan began to strengthen its relationships with China and Saudi Arabia in response to U.S. threat.
And now the U.S. – Pakistan war is expected. But is this war favorable for the U.S.?
If this war is called on, this will be World War III because this will not between only the U.S. and Pakistan but also countries which are allies with the U.S. and Pakistan will also take part. Most of all, this war will be between two atomic powers and the destruction it will cause is beyond anyone’s imagination.
President Barack Obama is planning to take steps against the downfall of American economy but it will be impossible if the war is called on. With the present condition of American economy, will this war be a practical move while U.S. is currently facing lack of fundraising?
