Terry Francona, the Red Sox manager led the team for eight years. During this time, the team had been to World Series titles two times in 2004 and 2007 and also to postseasons five times in eight years. But since October 2008 Red Sox has not won a play-off and it’s been 3 years which is clearly a very long time. The team players have lost their physical fitness and body shape for which Francona is responsible as a manager. He is likely to have a firm control over the actions of team players that may affect the game play.
Francona’s retirement is coming nearer so he won’t be fired exactly but Red Sox may decline their options on him for 2012 and 2013. But it is expected that Terry Francona will not come back as a manager. Instead, he can try his career some other place. The Red Sox can hire a stricter person for the team which will take a firm control over the players which may help for some time.
